vellum encourages organizational project teams to consider The Habit Loop for a successful implementation. To embed this as a habit within our users, we understand all habits proceed through four stages in the same order: cute, craving, response, and reward. This four-step pattern is the backbone of every habit. Our brains run through these steps in the same order each time. We have identified the following:
- Cue: The Huddle, a Mindfulness Minute, or other cue as determined by your organization
- Craving: To be valued, seen, and heard by leaders and teammates
- Response: The check-in
- Reward: The connection or other action taken by a teammate, the leader, and the organization
